The Company

Participation

Industry participation is a key component of developing successful online markets. The Seam's original concept was to provide an inclusive community that creates opportunities for companies of all types. The company has continued to develop that principle across its products and services.

The Seam is owned by a wide spectrum of agribusinesses including Cargill, Louis Dreyfus, Plains Cotton Cooperative, Staplcotn Cooperative, Calcot, Ltd, Olam (Queensland), Jess Smith and Sons, ECOM Trading, EWR, Inc, Avondale Mills, Parkdale Mills, and National Textiles.

Enhancing the liquidity of our exchanges and markets is the fact that a significant portion of the commercial trade in cotton, grains and peanuts are participants on The Seam. In addition to commercial trade, The Seam entered into a groundbreaking agreement with the United States Department of Agriculture in 2003 to market excess farm commodities on The Seam. USDA now markets all of its surplus stocks with The Seam.
