<h2><em></em><em>Lights, Camera, Action! </em></h2><p style="text-align:center;"><em>The 2025 FMI Health & Well-being Summit was a three-day event, focusing on nutrition, health advocacy, consumer beliefs and communication strategies within the food industry.</em><strong style="background-color:transparent;color:inherit;text-align:inherit;text-transform:inherit;word-spacing:normal;caret-color:auto;white-space:inherit;font-size:inherit;"></strong></p><p>By: Krystal Register, MS, RDN, LDN, Vice President, Health & Well-being, FMI</p><p>FMI recently held the annual in-person Health & Well-being Council Summit in the Washington DC area, with a three-day big screen experience that started on Capitol Hill, ventured to the Alamo Cinema Drafthouse and wrapped up at the FMI Crystal City office. </p><h5>Day One: Afternoon in Washington<strong></strong></h5><p><img src="https://www.fmi.org/images/default-source/blog-images/fmi-hwb-council-in-dc.tmb-large-350-.png?Culture=en&sfvrsn=23718781_1" style="float:right;margin:10px;" alt="FMI HWB Council in DC" class="-align-right" sf-size="4505184" />Sept 30<sup>th</sup> – On a beautiful day in our nation’s capital, we gathered key nutrition and health leaders from our membership, FMI staff and guests to provide insights on industry advocacy. True to the nature and pace of Washington, DC, we had an invigorating day packed with thoughtful conversations around a family meal table. Highlights included strategies for effective advocacy and messaging on health and nutrition policy, insights from industry advocates, and current trends in food and health regulations.</p><h5>Day Two: Challenges with Consumer Beliefs, Trust and Messaging</h5><p><img src="https://www.fmi.org/images/default-source/blog-images/hwb-summit-2025-pictures.tmb-large-350-.png?Culture=en&sfvrsn=904ad9be_1" style="float:left;margin:10px;" alt="HWB Summit 2025 Pictures" class="-align-left" sf-size="3667457" />Oct 1<sup>st</sup> – This full day of content featured a dynamic theater experience with slides and video on the big screen. The day opened with a feature presentation on defining truth, mapping consumer beliefs and recognizing the hidden forces shaping the future of food! One spotlight moment included consumer research hot off the press directly connected to what exactly “healthy” means to consumers today. Audience members enjoyed a matinee of two panels – one on retail health strategies and the other on navigating the future. This exclusive screening for nutrition and health leaders focused on collaboration, science, trust, progress and collective impact. The event leveraged the movie theater setting to frame complex issues, facilitate engaging presentations and foster collaborative next steps around connecting with consumers.<strong></strong></p><h5>Day Three: Engaging with Consumers Amidst Confusion</h5><img src="https://www.fmi.org/images/default-source/blog-images/hwb-summit-2025.tmb-large-350-.png?Culture=en&sfvrsn=85c1a08e_1" style="float:right;margin:10px;" alt="HWB Summit 2025 " class="-align-right" sf-size="100" /><p>Oct 2<sup>nd</sup>—Back at the FMI Office, together we rolled up our sleeves to workshop meaningful and actionable ways to communicate effectively to specific consumer segments on current hot topics. Small group strategy sessions were facilitated with expert guidance from the <a href="https://www.foodintegrity.org/" target="_blank">Center for Food Integrity (CFI)</a>. With on-site guidance from the FMI Communications Team, we laid the ground work for effective communication strategies to build on as we strive to leverage experts across the food industry as a source of truth, building consumer trust. </p><p>As the credits rolled on this final day together, participants left with actionable takeaways worthy of a standing ovation.
